:)
Hello Everyone,
New to the forum and this is my first post.
I have a project I'm starting re-finishing an old Hofner violin bass.
Does anyone have any information as to how I can get the original color/colors in the burst?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Refinish, I re-did a Hofner bass some years back & if my memory serves me right I just did a tobbacco burst. First I wipe coated the bare wood with a waterbased stain of honey amber with a small amount of Medium brown to darken it up slightly , if it's too strong just wipe more water on to tone down the color then the lacquered tobbacco burst with a very light touch of red in the transition stage. Best bet is to do a google image search and just match up using good pictures from your search.

Thanks Nick,
This is what I was thinking also.
I guess I wanted some inside info.
Will give it a shot soon.
I may post pics when finished.
Thanks again
